The rugged jewel of the north
By Karl-Heinz Labs
200 pages with more than 190 mostly full-page color illustrations. Hardcover. XXL format 37 x 26 cm.
Iceland: expensive and overrun by tourism? The paved roads around the island are certainly busy during peak season, but overrun would be an exaggeration. In the central highlands, you can travel long distances, alone with yourself and surrounded by stunning nature that truly pulls out all the stops. Glaciers, volcanoes, lava deserts, and almost unreal, colorful mountains are just a small sample of what awaits you in Iceland. Still skeptical? Then please follow the photographer and author on a photo journey you won't soon forget!
This illustrated book is a testament to the photographer's passion and skill. It's unique and will amaze you with every image!
Karl-Heinz Labs , actually an internist, worked in Germany, the USA, England, Switzerland and last but not least in Zambia in southern Africa.
"The years in Africa shaped my life," he says, a developing country far removed from consumer society, the infectious friendliness of the sub-Saharan African population, the mild climate, the soft light of the Zambian sun. Europe felt very far away, and that was a good thing!
His passion for photography has accompanied him throughout his life, first as a hobby, and then as a profession for several years. To be able to travel freely and independently, a four-wheel drive truck converted into a camper van became his new home, which took him to Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland, Morocco, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and, for 18 months, to the Indian subcontinent.
