Almut Irmscher was born in Wuppertal and grew up in Velbert in the Lower Berg region, later in the stone-grey Mönchengladbach of the 1970s. At 18, she fled to study in lively Cologne and subsequently spent many years in places as diverse as Liverpool and a remote farm in the North German lowlands, finally settling on a hill in the Bergisches Land region. She now lives here with her husband, a naval officer. She has three children and has run a small travel agency for over 20 years. Her passions are traveling and writing; she is also a passionate photographer and cook. This inspired her to combine everything and document the diversity of the countries, regions, and cities she visited with lively stories, photos, and recipes.
