In picturesque Dalarna, Sweden's epitome of tradition, the 100th Vasaloppet will be held in 2024 – a remarkable anniversary for the world's oldest and largest cross-country ski race. The event attracted thousands of enthusiastic cross-country skiers from around the world to face the challenge of the 90-kilometer course between Sälen and Mora through snowy forests, over rolling hills, and icy lakes.
The Vasaloppet, named after King Gustav Vasa, who escaped from Danish troops through this region in the 16th century, has become a symbol of Swedish endurance and winter tradition. The anniversary event is not only a sporting event, but also a tribute to the rich history and culture of the Dalarna region, which is best illustrated by the world-famous Dala horse, which has now become synonymous with Sweden in many ways.
Participants in the Vasaloppet not only experience a unique sporting challenge, but also experience the breathtaking natural beauty of Dalarna. The snow-covered course leads through idyllic villages, past traditional red wooden houses, and through pristine forests. Spectators cheer the athletes on with traditional music and enthusiastic applause.
The 100th Vasaloppet is not just a race, but a celebration of Scandinavian winter tradition and community spirit. It will surely be remembered as an unforgettable chapter in the history of cross-country skiing and Dalarna.

Blog etwas kurz, schad.
…und ein paar wenige, direkt auf den Vasalauf bezogene Artikel, im Shop wäre toll. Ich vermute allerdings, daß ist zu speziell und interessiert nur eingefleischte Langläufer wie mich!
