Uniquely comfortable, robust camera straps with a distinctive look made from the finest Scandinavian elk leather

Elk leather is the perfect leather for camera straps: up to 1.8-2.0 mm thick, extremely durable, and breathable. At the same time, it's unsurpassedly soft, pleasantly supple, and warm in direct contact with the skin. The leather used comes exclusively from Scandinavia, where wild elk are hunted in limited numbers under strict control, primarily for their meat. The hunting season begins with the Arctic winter, when the animals' hides are at their thickest. EDDYCAM's Finnish partner selects only the finest hides for further processing.

The idea behind the belt

Inspired by exclusive bags and fashionable accessories made of elk leather
Knowledge of the needs of the most demanding photographers and a passion for exceptionally beautiful, durable natural products motivated Edlef Wienen to develop a new, absolutely reliable camera strap. Inspired by exclusive bags and fashionable accessories made of elk leather, Wienen decided to use this high-quality natural material for camera straps as well.

Dedicated, competent employees and two highly specialized companies

The Finnish elk leather supplier manufactures high-quality material according to specific specifications. This elastic elk leather is designed to withstand the extreme stresses of the photographic field. Passionate musician Norbert Kölbl was enlisted to develop and produce the EDDYCAM. He produces comfortable carrying systems for musical instruments, such as bassoons and saxophones, which can cost many times more than a camera set – Kölbl Musical Accessories. Norbert Kölbl and Edlef Wienen were two exceptional specialists. Together, they developed the first and only ergonomic camera strap made of elk leather. Using state-of-the-art technology and expert craftsmanship, it is handcrafted with the utmost precision at the Bavarian EDDYCAM factory.

The creation of the elk leather belts doesn't begin with actual production in Germany, but much earlier – somewhere in the Scandinavian coniferous forest zone. This is where the elk live, and this is where EDDYCAM's high-quality leather is based. The elk leather is tanned and dyed in a small Finnish tannery and then sent to Bavaria for further processing. Cutting, gluing, and sewing, as well as the application of the components, take place there – all with great care and, as befits an exclusive natural product, largely by hand.

A lot of passion for quality-conscious photographers

Decades of experience, the finest Scandinavian elk leather, high-quality components 'Made in Germany,' and a lot of passion have resulted in EDDYCAM, the uniquely comfortable, robust camera strap with a distinctive look. EDDYCAM accompanies quality-conscious photographers through thick and thin – for a lifetime.

comfort

Elk leather is a high-quality natural product and is not only among the thickest but also among the finest leathers in the world. Its unparalleled elasticity is achieved through special processing in a Finnish tannery specializing in elk leather.
The soft, skin-friendly surface, the ergonomic shape of the straps, the continuously adjustable length, and the solvent-free, pure natural rubber padding ensure that EDDYCAM neither pulls nor presses. Not on the neck, not on the shoulder—even after hours of wear.

Resilience

EDDYCAM owes its extreme durability primarily to the solid workmanship and durability of the elk leather and all other product components.
Whether it's the 5-way connecting straps sewn with special thread (with a tensile strength of 4700 N), the shatter-proof stainless steel clamps for length adjustment, or the connecting elements made of robust PP material – only the consistently high quality of all components ensures the enormous resilience of the camera straps. And makes them virtually indestructible – even under the harshest climatic and operating conditions.

individuality

Every EDDYCAM is unique. Each piece of elk leather tells its own story. Small scratches testify to the animal's previous injuries, bruises from territorial fights, and tiny scars from insect bites.
And because EDDYCAM was developed for individualists with very different preferences and needs, the straps are available in over 100 designs and
in 6 widths, suitable for all camera and binocular models.
