"We can always learn something from the past."

Dorte Soland Wang writes about her Danish company:

"Forty or fifty years ago, nothing was wasted in the home. This philosophy is the basis for our knitted wipes and the other products from Solwang Design.
My grandmother transformed old yarn scraps into knitted wipes, which accompanied my sister and me throughout our childhood and adolescence.

When we moved out, we still loved my grandma's products. Some were better than others, depending on the yarn used. The color schemes were always new and beautiful. In her later years, my grandma would buy the yarn just to knit something for us and to enjoy her creations.

This meant that there were now plain-colored cloths and ones that would fit our kitchens, which was a kind of crowning achievement of her work. When my grandmother was no longer with us, we couldn't find a replacement for her cleaning cloths anywhere: effectiveness and functionality combined with colorful beauty were the prerequisites.

So I got to work, knitting first for myself and then for friends, who were always very excited when they received wipes designed and knitted by me as gifts.

The idea for our own line was born.

Time for handicrafts is usually short, but the desire for beautiful and at the same time functional products is great.

Today, Solwang Design's wipes and towels are produced using knitting machines, although the finishing is still done by hand. The quality lives up to my dear grandmother's original: absorbency, durability, and longevity are wonderful. This is the idea behind all Solwang Design textiles."
