Petra & Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner – both born in 1969 in Innsbruck, Austria – are professional travel journalists, speakers, photographers, filmmakers, and authors. After completing their studies (Petra in biology, Gerhard in medicine), they decided that a life behind the camera would be far more fulfilling than the lab and the practice, and they turned their dream into a career. The path to this goal was set early on.
In 1992, Petra worked in Manitoba, Canada, and lived there for eight months with Native Americans of the Ojibwa tribe. That same year, Gerhard packed his mountain bike, cycled through the Himalayas, and immersed himself in the culture of India's hill tribes for six months. Both later recounted their formative experiences in live slideshows, laying the foundation for their lives today. Shortly thereafter, they met and decided to continue their journey together.
