The Nyåkers company produces its gingerbread in the northern Swedish town of Nyåker and is one of the oldest gingerbread producers in Sweden.
The company's history began with two brothers from Nyåker who had an idea in the 1950s: They wanted to raise awareness of their gingerbread, which had been baked at home in Nyåker for generations. Even then, Nyåker and the surrounding area were considered "the promised land of gingerbread."
The two brothers developed a recipe that is still kept secret and used today.
Nyåker's gingerbreads have a unique taste due to their own recipe and are therefore different from those of other producers.
