Look inside the book
Hans-Joachim Spitzenberger holds a doctorate in biology and has, among other things, spent several research stays in the wilderness of Spitsbergen, which instilled his fascination with the polar region. He then discovered Norway as a whole, as well as Antarctica, Africa, India, the South Seas, and South America, as travel destinations. He travels to regions inaccessible by land as an expedition leader on expedition cruise ships.
Photographer Petra Woebke travels to the most remote corners of the world on her professional research, along with her husband and team partner Klaus-Peter Woebke. As a landscape photographer, she has developed a passion for sensitive portraits and reportage photography of the land and its people. She has published numerous books and calendars. After many years of being fascinated by the South Seas, she recently turned her attention to the North. The unique light at these latitudes and the Arctic ice captivated her.
