Hilma af Klint (1862-1944), Swedish painter, mystic, and, not least, pioneer of abstract art, was (re)discovered by the art world only a few years ago. She had decreed that her abstract paintings, influenced by theosophy and spiritualism, could not be shown until 20 years after her death. It was not until 2013 that the Moderna Museet in Stockholm dedicated a comprehensive retrospective to her work, and an exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York followed five years later. The time is ripe to honor Hilma af Klint's great oeuvre.
