Norway, The North with Trondheim and Lofoten
Travel guide plus travel map. With personalized author tips and numerous tours.
By Michael Möbius and Annette Ster
308 pages, 127 illustrations, 34 maps. English paperback. 2.4 x 18.5 x 12.3 cm
Northern Norway is one of the most magnificent landscapes on earth. The two authors guide you through its incomparable natural beauty with their diverse tour recommendations: Mountain ranges like the Lofoten Islands, which rise suddenly and bizarrely from the sea, are perfect for day trips. Secluded sandy beaches and pristine bays await walkers seeking tranquility. Adventures on the water include boat trips, canoeing, and kayaking for beginners and advanced cyclists. Dream routes for cyclists include island hopping on the Helgeland coast or, in the far north, the Havøysund National Tourist Route. The authors guide you through wild national parks, to the icy worlds of gigantic glaciers, and into the vastness of Finnmark all the way up to the North Cape. For winter, they recommend Northern Lights excursions, snowshoe and ski tours, and dog or reindeer sledding. They'll show you the most beautiful fishing villages, as well as the metropolises of Trondheim (the gateway to the north) and Tromsø (the heart of the north), and select hotels, resorts, and restaurants that offer Norwegian hospitality and excellent cuisine. Simply follow the routes, tours, tips, and favorite spots of native Norwegians Michael Möbius and Annette Ster.
