Children's book (ages 9 and up)
By Astrid Lindgren
Illustrated by Ilon Wikland and translated from Swedish by Anna-Liese Kornitzky

240 pages with numerous illustrations. Hardcover. 16 x 21 cm.

This children's book was published in 1982 and has been reprinted several times since then - a children's book classic.

It was a terrible, stormy night when Mattis, the chief robber, gave birth to a daughter. He and his gang loved her dearly. Indeed, they were practically infatuated with the little girl who had conquered the wonderful world of the robbers and their adventurous forests.
There are the strange Rumpelstiltskin, the terrible Grey Gnomes, the dreadful Wild Drudes - and the "pants-shitter" Birk.
But when she befriends Birk, the son of the rival Borkas clan, Mattis disowns her: Ronja the Robber's Daughter is no longer his daughter.
Astrid Lindgren's plea for peace and harmony is the story of a friendship so great and unconditional that it ended the ancient enmity between two robber clans forever.

Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002), born in Småland (southern Sweden), created unforgettable characters such as Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, and Ronja the Robber's Daughter. The children's book author was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Alternative Nobel Prize, among others.
