Born in Kalmar, the artist Jenny Nyström (1854–1946) was admitted to the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 1873. In 1881, she received a scholarship that allowed her to travel to Paris and refine her artistic skills. She returned to Stockholm in 1886. She worked as an illustrator until her death.
