Tomte Tummetott: The classic by Astrid Lindgren as a Kamishibai picture story

On cold winter nights, when the snow shines white and the stars twinkle, the elf Tomte sneaks around the farm. He watches over the sleeping people and animals, whispering comforting words about the coming spring into their ears.

Astrid Lindgren's story about the ancient elf with the red pointed cap has enchanted children of all ages for generations. Harald Wiberg's illustrations are now available in large format for the Kamishibai – making this atmospheric winter tale even more enjoyable to discover together!

The narrative theatre: rediscover the magic of good stories

With the Kamishibai, in which the picture cards are placed in a frame and presented one after the other during the storytelling, Astrid Lindgren's elf story comes to life for the listeners.

As the presenter, you can keep an eye on the children at all times. This allows you to respond to questions or adjust the narrative pace at any time. It's even more fun to look at the illustrations together, showing the elf Tomte Tummetott stomping through the cold winter night. This not only awakens the desire for cozy storytelling sessions, but it also makes it easier to wait for Christmas (or the upcoming spring) together!

Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002), born in Småland (southern Sweden), created unforgettable characters such as Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, and Ronja the Robber's Daughter. The children's book author was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Alternative Nobel Prize, among others.

Harald Wiberg (1908-1986), born in Hallingeberg, Sweden, worked as a poster painter and studied painting. He received the prestigious Swedish Elsa Beskow Prize in 1982 for his atmospheric animal and nature paintings. The picture books "Tomte Tummetott" and "Christmas in the Stable" are two collaborative works of art by Astrid Lindgren and Harald Wiberg.
