Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002), born and raised in southern Sweden, created unforgettable characters such as Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Ronja the Robber's Daughter, and many others. The "most wonderful children's book author of all time" (DIE ZEIT) has been honored with the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Alternative Nobel Prize, among others.

Ann-Kristin zur Brügge comes from a tiny village in northern Germany and always wanted to be a gossip journalist. But during an internship at a children's book publisher, she finally realized that she could put her penchant for corny jokes to much better use there. Since then, she's worked as a project manager at the publishing house and comes up with all sorts of puns, rhymes, and crude jokes herself. Her two children find it funny, her husband thinks it's not so-so...

Ilon Wikland , born in Estonia in 1930, studied art in Stockholm and London and worked as a freelance illustrator. Starting in 1954, she illustrated more than 30 books by Astrid Lindgren.

Börn Berg (1923-2008) studied art and worked as an illustrator for Sweden's largest daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter. He received the "Elsa Beskow Prize" for his Michel illustrations.
