The Halland crime novel by criminologist and highly acclaimed author Christoffer Carlsson is a gripping novel about guilt, separation and forgiveness.
On a cold winter morning in 1999, 18-year-old Mikael Söderström is found beaten to death in Skavböke, Halland. He and his friends had been at a party the night before, but no one in the village can or wants to believe that one of them is the culprit. During the investigation, the police repeatedly come across two names: Killian Persson and Sander Eriksson. But nothing can be proven against the unlikely pair, who have been inseparable since childhood. The trail runs dry.
When Mikael's younger brother is murdered in Skavböke 20 years later, Vidar Jörgensson of the Halmstad police takes over the case. His investigation leads back to the events of that time. But on the bright summer nights, boundaries begin to dissolve, shimmering like the light, blurring the past and present.
"One of the best crime novels of the year, superbly written and atmospheric, about growing up and dreams, old lies, and new insights." Dagens Nyheter
